Human Resource Management (HRM) is the management of the work process and employees towards achieving the desired business goals, which is a fundamental activity in any organization. The objective of the course is to provide knowledge on the management issues relating to the human factors considered for work processes in compliance with the human resource capabilities.

UNIT I bring out the perspectives of human resource management that deals with employees and policies of an organization. We can see HRM evolving into a sophisticated system from where it was a few decades back, and is now using scientific tools to deal with the management of employees and their behavior in the organization.

UNIT II deals right fromhuman resource planning, selection, recruitment and induction of new recruits.We can see how the recruitment activity identifiesand selects the people with the right skill-sets for an organization. With the use of accurate forecasting of required employees, the matching and supply of the human resources is done resulting in itsoptimum utilization. UNIT III focuses on the training and development of the human capital of the organization. Here the appropriate training and development of employees results in quality outputs enhanced through knowledge management, executive and self development, which is a continuous process organized by the human resource department throughout the year.

UNIT IV highlights how employee engagement is vital for an organization. Compensation plans, rewards, motivation and mentoring of employees translates their performance into high quality output and keeps them happy and satisfied in their work. A satisfied employee gets involved with better employee engagement and citizenship behavior during work.

UNIT V discusses the importance of performance evaluation of employees based on their responsibilities, contributions and their value-add to the organization. Effective control process identifies the deviations in the performance of employees through the feedback process and analyses the employee grievances to workout appropriate grievance redressal methods. 

The outcome of learning this course will enable the learners to gain knowledge and the skill-sets needed to be a successful human resource professional.
